Welcome to the Idling Wilds, a blog started in January 2026 by me, Katie McMahon. I live in the west of Ireland with my husband, two indoor cats, a whole community of farm cats who stop by now and then, and some mischievous crows who think it's funny to mimic the sound of the Tesco truck and then wait for me to look outside.

I read a lot of books. I'm slowly and thoughtfully making a handmade wardrobe for myself. I love to sew, crochet, and dye fibres with natural dyes. I'm learning to knit, spin, and weave. I occasionally remember that I like to bake. I garden when the weather is nice.
